The Ottawa Valley Adjusters Association was formed in 1961, by a small but dedicated group of individuals. It was originally started as an educational and social group and continues to remain true to these roots. Our first president was Jack Cameron and he served until 1962. Many of the early presidents are still involved in the insurance industry today. Our presidents generally serve a one year term and have worked their way up through the executive. The active board consists of a secretary, treasurer, vice-president, and president. To this executive group a number of directors have also been added.

Each year the O.V.A.A. provides educational seminars, as well as representing the local adjusters to the O.I.A.A. Up until the mid seventies this was not the case. We were a separate entity and not affiliated with the rest of the province. The O.I.A.A. then came to our group seeking our membership.

After much debate and various votes it was decided we would become a member of the O.I.A.A. Just recently the O.I.A.A. and all its chapters have incorporated and we are now represented by the O.I.A.A.'s constitution.

Along with many educational seminars each year the O.V.A.A. raises funds for numerous local charities. One of our major fund raisers is an annual golf tournament. This tournament has been going strong for more than 25 years and each year is able to contribute approximately $5,000.00 to charity.

Each month from September to May we offer a lunch or dinner meeting with a seminar, hosted at various locations throughout the city. We are always looking for new ways to expand our horizons and bring new fresh ideas and content into our Chapter. If you have new ideas or interests, we would like to hear from you, and discover how we can further orient the O.V.A.A. Chapter around your needs and interests.
